Educational and memorial exhibitions on historical conflicts

Poppies and Daffodils organises educational and memorial exhibitions focused on the defining conflicts of history, notably both World Wars (1914-1918 and 1939-1945) and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871.

These events go beyond the memory of battles: they also explore the fate of children in wartime — orphans, hidden children, displaced children, yesterday as today.

Historical conflicts in France and Europe

The exhibitions offer a detailed look at the most significant episodes of conflicts that took place in France and Europe. They incorporate artefacts, photographs, accounts and testimonies to help visitors better understand:

—The great battles such as Verdun, the Somme, the Normandy Landings and the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
—The role of the colonies in both World Wars, highlighting the contributions of African, Asian and Caribbean soldiers.
—The impact on civilians, including privations, life under occupation and post-conflict reconstruction.

These exhibitions are aimed at a diverse audience: members of the public, veterans, students, teachers, and anyone curious to learn more about these key moments in history.

Focus: children in wartime

Part of the exhibitions is specifically dedicated to the fate of children during and after conflicts. These presentations explore:

War orphans

Growing up without a parent who fell in combat or went missing: the wards of the Nation of yesterday and today.

Hidden and displaced children

From Jewish children hidden during the Holocaust to Ukrainian children displaced today: exile and survival told from a child's perspective.

Inherited invisible wounds

Trauma passed down through generations in families marked by war, in civilian and military families alike.

Paths to rebuilding presented:
